Victoria Bay (or Vic Bay as the locals call it) is a 5 minute drive from Wilderness and is a popular beach destination for families, and surfers!
This popular surfing spot has a right hand point break that’s very consistent, with both a challenging jump-off and take-off.
This is generally a safe beach for swimming but there’s a tidal pool where the really young ones can paddle and play.
If you don’t want to get sand in your toes there’s a grass area where you can picnic. There’s also a small cafe, public toilets and showers.
The bay is home to a few lucky local residents who stay all year round. The public road that runs past the houses leads you to the end of the point where you’ll find Driftwood Terrace, a delightful tea garden, which is only open for a few hours of the day, and only in good weather, but definitely worth the walk down the point to see if it’s open!
